Be Seen With SEO Done Right
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is what increases your chances of being found when customers search for a product or service like yours with Google, Bing, and Yahoo. It should be noted that starting back in 2009, Yahoo started using the Bing search engine, and recently, for some searches, uses Google. We point this out because while 3 search sites control over 97% of all searches, technically there are just 2. Google and Bing. If a customer is using a search engine to find what they need and you don’t show up, you don’t exist. That’s not us talking, it’s not a sales pitch. It’s Jimmy Wales, the co-founder of Wikipedia. “If it’s not on Google, it does not exist.”
SEO is vital to any company’s success. Unfortunately, there are many scam artists offering SEO services. Web It 101 is all too happy to spend time educating potential clients on how to spot such scams. As such, we are 100% transparent, and believe that business owners have the right to be aware of what their SEO company is doing to their site.
We’ll state the obvious; Web It 101 SEO services are “White Hat,” and are totally and completely in line with Google’s Webmaster Guidelines.
SEO is cost-effective – Compared to the costs associated with other forms of online marketing such as PPC advertising, social media marketing, or purchasing leads for an email marketing program, SEO provides a solid ROI. While PPC may drive more revenue and social media may be more important for your image, your organic SEO in many ways remains a bedrock of your online presence.
Somewhere between 80-90% of customers now check online prior to making a purchase, and this number is only expected to increase. It won’t be long before virtually everyone is searching for products and services online. Do you want them to be able to locate your business, or not? Without organic SEO in place, people will have a very hard time finding you and will instead find your competitors.
The rise of mobile bandwidth and local search optimization – In late May 2015, Google announced that the amount of search traffic delivered to mobile devices exceeds that delivered to traditional desktop/ laptop/ tablet devices. With this dramatic explosion in mobile searches, a whole new world of effective SEO techniques have opened up for small business, such as local SEO.
On the other hand, if customers find your business while using a search engine, it’s direct traffic to your website. Though you may spend some money optimizing your website, you’re not paying for each new lead like with pay-per click (PPC), and you’re not paying excessive fees for intrusive outbound marketing that people have learned to “tune out” (or they use AdBlock).
SEO is important not only because it is the most cost-effective way to bring in new customers to your business, it’s important because we carry the internet in our pockets and purses. People are no longer tethered to their desks. Google reports (summer 2015) that over the last 4 years, searches that include “near me” have increased by 34X.
SEO is typically divided into two main groups: On-Page and Off-Page
On Page SEO: Everything on the page. This includes the words in the content you use to all the technical stuff like the HTML tags, meta tags, H1, H2 tags, meta description, and more that tell the search engines about your content. SEO and Local SEO are best done during an “overhaul” of your site, as most times it's easier to start fresh. Also, any images, video, PDFs, etc. all need major SEO for the universal search function.
Off page SEO: Everything off the page. This is primarily made of links to your website from other websites. This is not in your control, but you have some ability to influence it, utilizing social media channels. Also, Off Page SEO covers local SEO with Google my Business, Bing Maps, Yahoo Local, and more. All these are “signals” to the search engines “off” your page, but included in most any “real” SEO package (You can see a list of the “Unreal SEO”)
Getting on-page and off-page SEO correct sounds hard, and it is. There are a lot of bases to cover.
